A three-quarter inch square setting of 14K rose gold layered over sterling silver forms the base for a cluster of morganite gemstones accented with white topaz gemstones. This is a dramatic ring yet its low profile makes it very comfortable to wear for daily use as does the durability of the morganite gems. Morganite is in the beryl family of gems which also includes emerald and aquamarine. In spite of morganite's delicate peachy pink color which gives it a very feminine appearance it is a tough gem suitable for everyday wear. It is a size 6 and cannot be resized. Dates from 1990 or earlier. Morganite was named around 1900 by George F. Kunz, gemologist for Tiffany in honor of the financier and gem collection J.P. Morgan.
