This is an antique carved nephrite jade archer's ring dating from the Qing Dynasty 1800s. Originally these rings were worn by archers to protect the finger. Later, they became a mark of honor for scholars to wear on the thumb. As such, they are a wonderful piece of Chinese history and lovely little works of art. When worn on a thick cord they become a gorgeous and contemporary pendant necklace. The color of this jade archer's ring is a medium celadon with pale beige areas. It may appear lighter in the photos depending on your computer. The carving is well done and goes all around the ring. Weighs 36.5 grams. US ring size 13.A cord similar to the one in the photo will be included on request.
