A beautiful and unusual yellow beryl (heliodor) 3-stone vintage ring set in 14K yellow gold weighing 3.6 grams. This is a great non traditional engagement or wedding ring and it also makes a beautiful choice as a right hand ring. It measures approximately .75 inches across and .25 inches wide. It is currently a size 6 but can be resized up or down 2 sizes. Please contact me if you need resizing. Three stone rings are symbolic of yesterday, today and tomorrow, making them a very romantic association as special event rings commemorating, weddings, births, etc.
Heliodor is the golden yellow variety of the mineral beryl, which is the gem family that includes emerald, aquamarine, and morganite. It has excellent durability and is suitable for everyday wear, making it a good choice as an engagement or wedding ring. Like its cousin the emerald, heliodor has a subtle, soft sheen rather than a bright sparkle. Heliodor was discovered in Namibia in 1910 in a pegmatite that also produced aquamarine. The largest faceted heliodor, 2,054 carats, is on display at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. The name heliodor is Greek meaning gift from the sun. Heliodor is found in Minas Gerais and Goias, Brazil; the Ukraine in Russia; and also in Connecticut and Maine.
