A very beautiful Japanese bowl, sumiyoshi lacquer on mulberry wood with makie-e, makie-karabitusu and togidashi lacquer, Meiji period, circa 1860. It measures 10.25 inches in diameter and is in good antique condition with a little wear on one part of the rim as shown in the fourth photo. All the lacquer work is intact and very beautiful.
