Rare Turquoise Ring, Art Nouveau, Handmade Sterling
Rare handmade Art Nouveau turquoise ring dating from about 1900-1909. Unique and unusual. The color is extraordinary, a soft matte greenish hue with intense back matrix. It is a natural nodule as nature made it measuring approximately 1 inch long and .75 inch wide. Naturalistic styles were the hallmark of the Art Nouveau period. The sterling silver setting is embellished with a floral motif typical of the period. The turquoise is set in heavy sterling silver prongs which hold it securely in place although it does rattle a little when gently shaken. Our jeweler says the stone is very secure but it was set in this way to prevent the nodular stone from cracking. US size 7. An unusual and beautiful rare piece.
