
Neolithic Jade Pendant, Hetian Mutton Fat Nephrite
An ancient mutton fat nephrite jade pendant from the Neolithic period. A rare piece of jade verbally authenticated at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum in 1974. Close examination reveals the "orange peel" surface and drill hole typical of the period. The color is lardy white with translucence. The pendant meaures approximately 2.5 inches long and 1.5 inch wide at the widest point. The jade is strung on a custom made adjustable length neck cord. An historically significant piece.
