
Jade Pendant Necklace, Hetian Mutton Fat Nephrite, Qing
A very fine Hetian nephrite jade carved pendant of a peanut with small animal, dating from the Qing Dynasty. Excellent detailed carving. Creamy white color with fine translucence. In Chinese culture, the peanut is often used as a symbol of longevity, abundance, and fertility. It has been an important part of Chinese cuisine and medicine for centuries and is considered to be one of the most auspicious foods. This beautiful carving measures approximately 2.5 inches long, 1 inch wide, and weighs 47.6 grams. An excellent piece for the jade connoisseur, this pendant is suspended from an adjustable length neck cord. Part of our jade collection which was verbally authenticated at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum in 1974.
