Antique Jade Bangle, Carved Nephrite, Qing Dynasty
An antique jade bangle bracelet of carved nephrite from the Qing Dynasty, 1800s or earlier. The jade is mottled shades of beige and brown with a beautiful fatty luster and silky feel typical of antique nephrite. This color is sometimes referred to as "chicken bone" jade. There is very fine carving all around depicting a variety of symbols. The inside diameter is 60 mm to fit a medium wrist; weight is 95.2 grams; width is 22 mm. In the metaphysical realm, nephrite has been said to protect the wearer from harm, prevent bones from breaking in a fall, and keep the kidneys healthy. A piece of history to wear every day.
